Solid and Papillary Neoplasm of the Pancreas -A Case Report-

Abstract
A case of solid and papillary neoplasm of the pancreas is presented in 36 year-old female. The tumor was found incidentally during her hospitalization for headache and dizziness. The excised mass, 7cm in diameter, was well circumscribed and
showed
extensive hemorrhage and necrosis. Microscopically, the tumor is composed of small uniform cells with eosinophilic cytoplasm forming papillas microcysts, and solid structures.
Immunohistochemical stains fro neuron-specific enolase(NSE) and epithelial membrane antigen(EMA) revealed diffuse and focal positivity, respectively, in the neoplastic cells. Ultrastructurally, the tumor cells have abundant mitochondria, few RER
and
Golgi complex but found few neurosecretory granules and no zymogen granules. There are few distinct intermediate junctions. These findings suggested that the tumor was originated from the small duct of the pancreas.
